Red Flag Alert

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry is charged with determining when it is best to discourage open burning. They designate this by declaring a red flag alert by county. On occassion the need for a complete burn ban, by order of the Governor, has to be implemented because of extreme dry conditions. Both 2005 and 2006 have had a complete ban on burning.
